Emirati play Alia & Essam to feature at World Stage Design closing ceremony in Sharjah

SHARJAH, 23 October 2025 —


Alia & Essam, a notable short play written by His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, will be performed during the closing ceremony of the World Stage Design event on Friday, 24 October at 5:30 pm (Sharjah time).


The play has been adapted and directed by Ahmed Almazem, a graduate of the Sharjah Performing Arts Academy, under the academic supervision of Professor Peter Barlow, executive director of the Academy.


The World Stage Design 2025 exhibition, a leading international event celebrating performance design, is being co-produced by the Sharjah Performing Arts Academy (SPAA) and the International Organization of Scenographers, Theatre Architects and Technicians (OISTAT).


Held from 18 to 25 October 2025, the exhibition takes place across multiple venues in Sharjah, including the SPAA campus. The event brings together more than 200 designers, artists, and creative professionals from over 50 countries, alongside students and faculty from SPAA, to exchange ideas and showcase innovative work in scenography.
